Rebecca:
Today we had the first ultrasound. It was so exciting. We got to hear the heartbeat pounding away. The nurse said everything was perfect and the baby looks healthy so far. I was glad to hear that since I haven't been eating much and when I do, it's a lot of junk food. But it looks like the baby is growing fine with all that! I'm 7 weeks along, but the baby measures at 8 weeks. She left the due date at October 25th, but said it looks like a big baby! We got pictures to put on our fridge. He/she looks so cute, even though it still looks like a blob with no arms or legs yet. :) I'm still feeling sick, but seeing the little baby inside of me today makes me know it's all worth it.
Zach:
Ok... first off, the heart was beating REALLY fast. I'm pretty sure we're having a girl. Don't take that to the bank yet, but I'd wager good money on it. In all seriousness, it was an awesome experience today. Getting to hear the heartbeat was too amazing for words.

Rebecca's First Appointment
Zach:
So, Rebecca had her first doctor's appointment yesterday, and it went very well. It wasn't anything TOO exciting. Just the whole, "make sure you eat right, stay hydrated, keep us updated" thing. We also scheduled the next few appointments and were told what to expect and the general routine. It was pretty insightful. All the ladies at the office were nice and seemed to care a lot. So, needless to say, it was comforting. I'm thankful the Lord lead us to a great place.
It really hit me walking in there and getting all the ins and outs of pregnancy that we're expecting a child! Even though we've known for almost three weeks, I still get blown away when I really think about how, in nine months, we'll have a little baby. So it was another one of those experiences. Haha. Anyway, I guess that's it for now. Rebecca told me that hamburger sliders from Applebee's sound good. So we're leaving pretty soon. "Good" cravings only last so long, so you have to jump on them right away. :)

6 weeks
Rebecca:
It's the start of week 6. "Morning sickness" started yesterday, but morning sickness is a huge understatement. It's more like 24/7 nausea that gets worse as the day goes on. At least I won't have to worry about gaining weight...I can only force myself to eat one meal a day. Right now most food, the smell of food, or thought of food makes me gag. I've found french fries always sound good though. The occasional rice cake ties me over for the other meals. I know I need to be drinking a lot of water, but that makes me sicker. Zach ran out today and got 5 gallons of different flavored Gatorades. Hopefully that'll be a bit easier to drink.
Zach:
I've determined that I'm going to be a very proud father. While I was walking around Wal-Mart I noticed a lot of dads that ignore their kids and pretend as much as possible that they don't exist. I realized that I'm going to wanna show off my child as much as possible. So, that's my latest thought. My current and upcoming thought: "What food sounds good to Rebecca in 5 mins?"
